Proud to have my essay “I”m A Dancer” included in THE TALK, an award winning new anthology edited by Wade and Cheryl Willis Hudson, published by Crown. Hardcover now available. Coming soon in paperback! “I’m A Dancer” is one of several memoir pieces I’ve written set in the segregated world in Washington, D.C. where I grew up and attended public schools. At a classroom costume party, where I’m the only “Negro” child, I feel invisible. The memory of this deeply felt interior experience is one of many indelible recollections that set me on a lifelong exploration of “race” and identity.
